Sunswept fire engulfs homes in Studio City as Los Angeles battles multiple wildfires
A fire in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles burned structures before being contained. A large home collapsed after being engulfed in flames.
The Sunswept Fire began Wednesday evening near Vanetta Place and Sunswept Drive, with structures burning in the area. The fire has since been declared knocked down by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
At least two structures were fully engulfed, with one large home collapsing during live broadcasts. Several nearby homes were threatened by the fire and spot fires caused by embers.
A significant firefighter presence, including aircraft, was deployed to extinguish the flames. No injuries have been reported.
The Sunswept Fire ignited shortly after another blaze was reported in Hollywood Hills. The Sunset Fire, currently at 60 acres, has prompted evacuations and heavy traffic around Hollywood Boulevard. There are no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage.
These fires follow one of the most destructive days in Los Angeles wildfire history, with the Palisades and Eaton Fires claiming at least five lives and destroying over 1,000 structures in the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena neighborhoods.
